Charlie, un amante del jazz, que no sabía cómo tocar rock and roll terminó siendo el baterista de una de las agrupaciones más legendarias y longevas en este género, desde 1963 hizo parte de los Stones y según Mick Jagger y Keith Richards, Watts era el verdadero líder de The Rolling Stones.
